Method for measuring dissolved oxygen content in oxygen-enriched water
1. Background introduction
At normal temperature and pressure, the dissolved oxygen content in water is generally 6-10 mg/L. In some water bodies, the dissolved oxygen content in the water will increase significantly due to some reasons, leading to rich oxidation in the water body, and the dissolved oxygen content can reach more than 20mg/L. For example, rivers and lakes contain a lot of aquatic plants. When the weather is fine, the oxygen released by the photosynthesis of aquatic plants will cause the water body to be oxidized; there are also some waters that cause dissolved oxygen in the water due to aeration or the use of pressurized dissolved oxygen measures. The concentration is greatly increased, and common aeration tanks and oxygen-enriched beverages are common.
There are many ways to measure dissolved oxygen, among which two methods are mostly used to measure dissolved oxygen in oxygen-rich water:
Method principle
1. Iodometry
Manganese sulfate and alkaline potassium iodide are added to the water sample. Dissolved oxygen in the water will oxidize low-valent manganese into high-valent manganese, forming a brown precipitate of tetravalent manganese hydroxide. After acid is added, the hydroxide precipitates and dissolves and reacts with iodide ions to release free iodine. Using starch as an indicator, titrate the released iodine with a standard solution of sodium thiosulfate, and calculate the dissolved oxygen content based on the consumption of the titrated solution.
2. Electrode method
Use coated dissolved oxygen electrode or fluorescent dissolved oxygen electrode to measure dissolved oxygen content.
Compared with the iodometric method, the electrode method test process is simpler, more convenient and accurate. However, the effective range of the common dissolved oxygen meter on the market at present is mostly 0-20mg/L, and it is incapable of measuring oxygen-enriched water with a dissolved oxygen content of more than 20mg/L. After exploration, the technical research and development personnel of Raymagnet successfully expanded the effective range of the instrument from the conventional 0~20mg/L to a higher range, thus solving the problem of detecting high concentration of dissolved oxygen in an oxygen-rich environment.
2. REX dissolved oxygen meter test oxygen enrichment
(1) Recommended instruments: JPSJ-606L dissolved oxygen meter, JPBJ-609L portable dissolved oxygen meter
(2) Recommended electrode: DO-958-L dissolved oxygen electrode
(3) Reagents: zero oxygen solution, saturated dissolved oxygen solution, etc.
(4) Sample: oxygen-enriched water sample to be tested
(5) The measurement process is as follows:
Electrode preparation---Instrument Calibration---Sample Calibration
(6) The measurement results of the samples prepared by our company: During the experiment, at a constant temperature of 5°C, a nitrogen-oxygen mixture with 95% oxygen content was passed through the ultrapure water to saturation, and then the lightning magnetic dissolved oxygen recommended in this program was used The analyzer determines the dissolved oxygen content, and the experimental value is close to the theoretical value of 58.045 mg/L, the error is within 1%, and the experimental result is reliable.
